Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Seattle, Washington, located in the University District near the University of Washington, invites applications for a full-time position that is part of a youth engagement, innovation, and outreach plan. This professional position will support an initiative to provide an inclusive, contemporary church culture that will appeal to diverse people, especially those born in the 21st century. Our church membership is eager to work together with an individual who is dedicated to the Cause of Christian Science to:

We are currently hiring for a Christian Science Reading Room Manager position. This position will work with church members (both employees and volunteers) to manage our Christian Science Reading Room, which is a retail bookstore, library, and church community center. Duties will include public relations, sales, management of stock inventory, website and social media content, advertising, window displays, scheduling and working with volunteers, organizing events and special activities to draw people, participating in local community meetings and events, community engagement both within the Christian Science community and with the University community and beyond, as well as other duties, including some administrative work for the church.

As the Reading Room is a retail operation and the Reading Room Manager may need to attend meetings and special events, working hours may include regularly working evenings and weekends. The job will involve engaging with people from diverse cultural, religious, and language backgrounds and a wide range of social and economic status. The Reading Room Manager will regularly provide financial reports to the Treasurer and verbal and written status and fruitage reports to the church members.

Applicants must be deeply committed to the Cause of Christian Science. Membership in The Mother Church, and regular in-person church attendance and active membership at the earliest possible date at Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Seattle, is required. This position will be hired for a 1-year term, potentially renewable for up to 3 years.

Compensation: $22.50 per hour (up to 40 hours per week). Additional housing stipend of up to $1000/month is available to help with U-District housing costs.
